Who we are?

Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Children Initiative (GEEWCI) is a women-led and youth-led non-sectarian, non-partisan and not-for-profit national non-governmental organization (NNGO) established and incorporated or registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the Company and Allied Matters Act (2020) as an “Incorporated Trustees” with the sole mandate of ensuring gender equality and protection of rights of women and children and other vulnerable populations in the society.

We strive to ensure that women and children are protected and empowered to explore their potentials to the fullest and lead safe and dignified life wherever they are. We work in the thematic areas of protection (child protection, gender-based violence and general protection), education, nutrition especially for under 5 children, pregnant & breastfeeding women & girls (PBWGs), health, water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), disability inclusion, climate change and environmental sustainability as well as good governance and peacebuilding.

AIM

The sole aim or mandate of GEEWCI is to ensure the rights to protection for women and children are upheld and that women and children are well empowered and equipped to explore their potentials to the fullest in the society.

VISION

GEEWCI envision a world where women and children’s rights are protected, and women and children can meet their basic needs and expand their opportunities to reach their full potentials in the society.

MISSION

The mission of GEEWCI is to help people affected by conflict and disasters as well as climatic crisis especially women and children to survive, recover and gain control over their future through strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders and implementation of high impact and cost-effective programmes.

As a women-led and youth-led organization, we are not just responding to inequality- we are redefining leadership, voices, and agency across the conflict and disaster affected communities.
Our journey is grounded in the voices of women and children who refused to be silenced, our work empowers women & children, especially girls to dream boldly and lead fearlessly, and grow in safe and inclusive environments. Together, we are building a future where gender equality is not a privilege, but a lived reality for all.
